"F" Team

Lawndale Art Center , started by James Surls of University of Houston ( Go Coogs!), is located between Downtown and the Medical Center. Lawndale is an exhibition space for contemporary artists in the Houston area, with performances, screenings and many other events. Every so often, the art center commissions a mural on its exterior wall featuring local artists. For the past 6 months or so, the mural named " F Team" has been on display. The mural is a collaborative among artists  Daniel Anguilu (Weah), James Burns, Tierny Malone, angel Quesada, Michael Rodriguez Roland Soldana and Dandee Warhol. Being that today was the last day for this mural, i decided to swing by and snap some flicks.

Adidas: H-town Sneaker Summit

H-Town Sneaker Summit has grown into one of the biggest events of its kind. Originally starting off with a few sneaker enthusiasts off a forum, it now attracts people from all over the nation who come to buy/sell/trade limited edition sneakers, clothing and accessories. If you have been following my blog, you know i have been shooting this event for a while. I was fortunate enough to shoot for Adidas this year, one of the featured brands of the event, thanks to my friend Marco Torres aka MarcofromHouston. Some of the shots are posted below. Be sure to stay on the lookout for the full press release from H-town Sneaker Summit and Adidas.

Jason Markk Pop-Up Shop

Last year i had the honor of meeting Jason Markk, the founder of Jason Markk Premium Sneaker Solution. I first discovered his product online on a sneaker forum around 2008 and since then, it is the only product i clean my sneakers with. Simple to use and effective on all materials (including delicate suede and nubuck), it truly is an amazing product. When i heard Jason was coming back to Houston during All Star weekend with a pop up shop at premium goods, I couldn't pass up the chance to go kick it.

Johnny Cupcakes Coffin Tour

Johnny Cupcakes is a clothing company started by Johnny Earle in 2001. Since then, he has turned his simple idea into a multi-million dollar business. Johnny's story is one of humble beginnings, hard work and dedication. One of the many things that set him apart from other brands is that he has taken the customer experience to another level. His 5 stores each look like bakeries with vintage ovens, fake steam, and batter oozing out the walls. Each order comes in a bakery style box and often includes a pack of nostalgic candy, cards, and toys from the 90s. Johnny ONLY sells in his stores and online shop, making his product exclusive and often hard to get.

Johnny Cupcakes is now on his second tour across the nation. Driving from city to city, selling shirts out the back of his van, essentially going back to his roots. Each stop consists of a one day popup shop at independent businesses of different sorts. Hundreds of people lined up outside of Crave Cupcakes Tuesday in Houston for an oppertunity to meet the man himself and get their hands on the limited edition clothing. From hardcore fans to people just wanting to find out why there is a ridiculous line outside a cupcake shop, the night was definitely one to remember.
